Sneaky, sneaky.
August 22 almost slipped by me without notice. Tricky little one. Thank goodness I remembered just in the nick of time that it was my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY in country!!!! Oh, how time flies.
Congratulations on you 1st anniversary with the Peace Corp :^) I hope My~ and you have a great time in Bolivia. And the little sister has enough time and money to show the older brother around, and gives him good treats. I hope that he is ready to return to the US now.
"Is peace simply the absence of war? Or is it the absence of the conditions that bring on war, the conditions of hunger, disease, poverty, illiteracy, and despair?"
The Peace Corps today has 7,749 Volunteers serving in 73 countries. Three-fifths of the Volunteers are female; 1,240 are people of color; and 465 are older than 50. The oldest Volunteer today is 81.
Wish List

All my wishes have come true!
“Many don’t see any particular point in having their culture and lifestyle destroyed so that people can sit in traffic jams in New York.” – Noam Chomsky
The goal of development is to work ourselves out of a job.

Poverty, injustice, oppression, suffering, these remain the basic conditions of life on most of the planet- whatever else has changed since [Che Guevara’s] death, this hasn’t, but as life becomes more pleasurable and affluent for the rest of us, the poor seem more remote than ever, their appeal to our humanity even fainter.
